The aim of this project was the creation of a grid platform that would enable domestic users, schools and SMEs to share and use computational resources without the need to invest in purchasing and maintenance of complex infrastructure, thus providing a usable platform for distributed computing. The role of our group was the design and development of a semantic information system for grid resource and market allocation. Worked as researcher.
“TELL: Towards effective network-supported collaborative learning”, του προγράμματος e-Learning της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης, 1/1/04 – 31/12/2005. The aim of this project was the identification and evaluation of best practices for the design of CSCL. Design patterns for computer supported collaborative learning were identified and proposed as well as methods for the evaluation of such systems and as well as the evaluation of related educational practices. Worked as researcher.
“UNIVERSAL Exchange for Pan-european Higher Education”, (IST-1999-11747). The aim of this project was the development of an educational broker. The broker aimed at publishing information about available courses or learning resources from educational organizations as well as providing the infrastructure for searching and provision of these according to user’s educational needs. Worked as researcher.
“E-LEN: A Network of e-Learning Centers”, European Socrates program, 1/10/2002 – 01/10/2004. This project aimed at creating the technical and organizational infrastructure for the communication, cooperation and expertise exchange among Centers of Advanced Learning Technologies. Worked as researcher.
“MENU: A Model for a European Networked University for e-Learning”, European e-Learning program DG ΧXII, 1/11/01 – 30/6/2003. The aim of this project was the creation and operation of a European Virtual University. During the project, a strategic and organizational plan for this university was produced. A thorough analysis of existing systems for learning recognition of among the countries involved was conducted and certain solutions were proposed so as to enable the recognition of the degrees issued by the new virtual university. Worked as researcher.
“WEBSET: Web-based Standard Educational Tools”, (IST-1999-10632), 1/5/2000-30/4/2002. The aim of this project was the design and implementation of software components for the 3-dimensional simulation of specialized surgical operations so as to enable the development of educational software out of reusable components for the training of trainee doctors in special surgical skills before practicing with real patients. The software created supports the collaborative practicing in virtual surgeries with the participation of multiple trainees and one trainer, as well as the assessment of their performance in activities that can be defined dynamically. Worked as researcher.
