The Student Union of the Aegean University’s Department of Mathematics in the event of the 20 –year anniversary of the Department is organizing a scientific conference on Samos island (Karlovasi) at the end of April 2007 over the general title:
«Mathemartics»

The conference intents for the participants to be introduced to areas and activities where mathematics meet philosophy, music, literature and fine art. And at the same time to start a general discusion about the connection between science and culture so that positive interactions are resulted.

During the conference distinguised scientists and art personas, from Greece and Europe, will present their projects on the subject.

There will be works presenting the connection between mathematics and classical philosophy and also the use of mathematics in music production and analysis.
Furthermore, we shall see how famous mathematical problems can inspire and create great works of art –concerning literature- as well as, the effect that the development of mathematics have over fine art.

In the event of the conference discussions, music performances and exibitions of art works are to take place.

The conference applies –mainly- for students and scientists studying Mathematics and Science.
